The second phase of the Fruit Tree Planting Programme titled “Green Abundance: The Lesson of Survival” was held on 20th December 2025 at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala. Prof K V Thomas, Special Representative of Kerala Government in New Delhi & Managing Trustee, Prof K V Thomas Vidyadhanam Trust delivered the welcome address. The chief guests, Shri Madhu S. Nair, Chairman and Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard Limited, and Smt. K. Rameetha, Scientist, NPOL (DRDO) addressed the gathering. They spoke on the challenges of global warming and emphasised the need for sustainable development through collective and individual responsibility. Shri A Gopalakrishnan, Chief Sevak, CMECT – GC, Shri. Venugopal C Govind, Senior Trustee, Chinmaya Mission Educational and Cultural Trust – Greater Cochin and Principal Ms. Prathiba V addressed the gathering. Dr Shinoj Subramannian, Principal Scientist & Head, ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ernakulam briefed about the project. Shri Shoji Joy Edison, Horticulturist, KVK Ernakulam delivered the vote of thanks. The fruit planting drive aligned with the chinmaya vision program propagating the message of universal Outlook and our pledge to conserve nature. Saplings were distributed to all 2000 students of the school to drive home the need to grow plants.
